Mind maps are diagrams used to visually outline information. Edraw Mind Map is a tool for creating this type of visual aid content. It is invaluable in brainstorming, process-analysis and decision-making activities.

Its interface has the already familiar design used in Microsoft Office applications. A ribbon groups tools into tabs according to their purpose. In addition to the basic tabs, there are others that are context-responsive; that is, they only show when they are needed for the current task. This is a good design decision that avoids confusing the user with several contextually irrelevant elements. Some of the objects you can create will probably feel familiar to you because they are quite similar to those found in Office’s graphical tools.

EDraw Mind Map can help you create highly customized and detailed mind maps thanks to the multiple drawing tools available. Although you can start your diagram from scratch, I am sure you will find the built-in templates and examples extremely useful. Unfortunately, most of the templates are only available in the Pro version.

The application includes lots of preset flowchart symbols and artwork. If you select a given symbol from the library, you are ready to draw it on the working area. Additionally, EDraw Mind Map supports object linking and embedding, which allows you to use such objects as Word documents, Excel sheets, MS Graph, MS Equation, etc. Most operations, such as inserting a new topic, selecting styles and changing the arrangement, are also available via right-clicking on the objects.

In general, EDraw Mind Map is easy to use and you can begin to draw your maps right away. However, due to the high number of options available, it is very probable that there will always be something new to discover. Eventually, you will be using this tool at its full potential.
